Job Description

An expanding agriculture/tourism business located in Richmond NSW (300 acres of river flats with irrigation) on the banks of the Hawkesbury River, one hour from Sydney CBD.

We are currently seeking an experienced farm equipment/vehicle mechanic and farm handyman, to join our team of highly motivated, self-starting and enthusiastic people to assist in the maintenance of our property comprising of hay production, managed pastures, polo fields and gardens. You will be supported by the Property Manager and a team of "best in class" advisors who set the plan for the production of hay, management of pasture and maintenance of the polo fields.

Candidates must have:

  • Excellent interpersonal (team player) and verbal communication skills
  • A hands on and positive work ethic
  • Flexibility in hours and duties to assist team mates and the business as needed
  • Initiative - although the various maintenance and farm plans are set and clear for the team to execute, candidates with initiative and knowledge and a spirit to rise to a challenge and get the job done together, are sought.
  • "A fair go, for those who have a go" and "do it right the first time" attitude.

Candidates MUST have:

  • A successful track record and experience in farm equipment and vehicle mechanical maintenance and repairs.
  • Can fix and mend post and rail and wire fencing (steel fencing and welding a plus)
  • Attention to detail to maintain the property properly, both functionally and aesthetically

Other positive/desirable attributes:

  • Truck license desirable - prime mover
  • Welding
  • Irrigation - working knowledge and experience in the maintenance and repair of irrigation pumps, lines and related equipment

Employment is on a casual basis, part or full-time hours depending on candidate and their competency. Benefits may include use of a motor vehicle and other benefits commensurate with the candidate's experience, position offered and job requirements.

Job Description

We are currently seeking 2-3 grooms for the Sydney Autumn polo season. To start mid-January in Richmond NSW, Australia, until mid-May.

This is a riding position, confident riders should only apply. The salary package includes a wage, accommodation and the use of a shared work ute. Successful applicants will get to work with peak equine athletes, young horses learning their craft, and an enthusiastic human team. Tasks include feeding, rugging, exercising and caring for horses, preparing for games and maintaining facilities for horses.

This position is suited to someone already in Australia with a work visa, career grooms or pony clubbers taking a gap year.
